Chitral (Chitral Express): To improve the traffic system and prevent accidents in Lower Chitral, traffic police have tightened action against drivers using illegal and high-intensity lights.
On special instructions from Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Zahid Nawaz and District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Muhammad Khalid Khan, a special campaign has been launched across the district under the supervision of Traffic Warden Police In-charge Sub-Inspector Jang Baz Khan. Indiscriminate action is under way against illegal laser lights, high-intensity LED lights and flashing lights installed on motorcycles, rickshaws and other vehicles, both small and large.
According to a police spokesperson, a large number of illegal, dazzling lights have so far been removed from vehicles during the campaign.
Traffic Warden Police have issued a final directive to all vehicle drivers, rickshaw owners and motorcyclists to remove every kind of illegal and inappropriate light from their vehicles immediately.
The traffic police in-charge said such lights affect the vision of drivers approaching from the opposite direction at night and cause serious road accidents. He warned that those who do not comply will face strict legal action; the illegal lights will be confiscated, and heavy fines will be imposed on the spot.
