Madrasa Usmania in Gulshanabad Chamarkan Holds Annual Turbaning and Awards Ceremony

Chitral (Chitral Express) — Madrasa Usmania in Gulshanabad Chamarkan held its annual turbaning ceremony for Huffaz and awards presentation in a dignified and spiritually uplifting atmosphere. Seven fortunate students who had memorized the Qur’an were ceremonially turbaned, while students who had shown outstanding performance in education, training and discipline received special awards.

The ceremony was chaired by Hazrat Qari Muhammad Yusuf, Amir of the Alami Majlis Tahaffuz Khatm-e-Nabuwwat (Chamarkan Circle). Ustad-ul-Qurra Hazrat Qari Abdul Rahman Qureshi, the official in charge of Wifaq ul Madaris al-Arabia in Lower Chitral, attended especially and listened to the Huffaz recite their final lesson. Professor Mufti Atiq ur Rahman of Government Degree College Chitral and Mufti Mir Hisamuddin, senior Islamic studies teacher at Ayeen, attended as special guests and speakers. The madrasa’s administrator, Maulana Qari Habib ur Rahman, served as master of ceremonies, and the event opened with a recitation by Qari Khizr Hayat.

Speaking as host, Maulana Muhammad Qasim, whose son Salman Qasimi also had the distinction of memorizing the Qur’an, thanked all the respected visiting scholars and participants. He said the scholars’ presence was a source of honor and happiness for all the Huffaz and their parents.

Addressing the ceremony, special guest Professor Mufti Atiq ur Rahman spoke about the modern intellectual and moral challenges facing the younger generation. He emphasized positive and da‘wah-oriented use of social media (Facebook, YouTube and Instagram), and urged young people to beware of misleading ideas and so-called scholars.

Other speakers, Mufti Mir Hisamuddin and Qari Muhammad Yusuf, spoke in detail about the importance of memorizing the Qur’an, parents’ responsibilities and teachers’ selfless service. They made clear that the turban of distinction is not merely an honor, but a great responsibility: Huffaz are expected to be a true reflection of the Qur’an through their conduct and actions.

Three students were especially commended for their outstanding performance:

  • Mufti Salman Qasimi, son of Maulana Muhammad Qasim, memorized the Holy Qur’an in just 9 months and demonstrated excellent attendance and discipline.
  • Adnan Karim, son of Fazal Karim, completed memorization in a short period and excelled in conduct and cleanliness.
  • Muhammad Hameed, son of Maulana Hizbullah, received a special award for his excellent attitude toward learning and punctuality during his memorization studies.

Madrasa Usmania was founded in August 1999 by Hazrat Maulana Hafiz Qari Habib ur Rahman, a graduate of Darul Uloom Karachi. Since then, it has continued to illuminate the area with religious education and moral training.

The ceremony concluded with a heartfelt prayer for the security of the country and the nation, unity of the Muslim Ummah and the madrasa’s progress, followed by a generous meal for those attending.
