Appeal to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Final ECNEC Approval
Upper Chitral (Jamshed Ahmad), 27 October 2026 — A significant step has been taken toward fulfilling the long-standing demand of residents of Morkhow, Upper Chitral. At the request of former Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Shahzada Iftikharuddin, Federal Minister for Planning and Development Chaudhry Ahsan Iqbal approved the PC-I for the “Athuk Irrigation Channel” (an irrigation project) at the CDWP and forwarded the case to the ECNEC for final approval.
News of this important development brought a wave of happiness among the people of Morkhow, and a festive atmosphere prevailed throughout the area. Residents of Morkhow praised former MNA Shahzada Iftikharuddin’s tireless efforts in glowing terms.
While expressing hope, members of the public strongly urged Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Mian Shehbaz Sharif, to ensure that the Athuk Irrigation Channel receives final approval through the ECNEC as soon as possible. This would allow practical work on the important irrigation project to begin and enable the area’s barren lands to be irrigated.
