On February 16, 2016 the senior management of Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) Chitral Region held an inception and planning workshop with District Government at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Office in Chitral. The project is funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) for the period of four years (2015-2018) followed by Phase 1 in which the project constructed two Microhydels respectively 500 and 800 KW in Raman and Pawoor villages.
AKRSP- WES II Project team briefed the DC, district administration and government line department representatives about the project. As implementing partner AKRSP will engage respective stakeholders for successful implementation of the project. Talking on the occasion, Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed Project Manager WES-II said that the project will focus on operationalization and sustainability of the MHPs built in phase 1 and initiate business development ventures linked with water and energy keeping in view the ecological and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) aspects of nature. AKRSP’s Regional Program Manager Mr. Sardar Ayub said that AKRSP is always there to facilitate district government for community development. At the end DCO Chitral Mr. Usama Wariach appreciated the efforts of AKRSP and AKDN for development projects in the area. He also emphasized on the need of joint monitoring, mutual collaboration and interaction for current as well as future initiatives.
