Chitral (Chitral Express): A special campaign against underage motorcyclists is continuing vigorously in Lower Chitral in light of the special directives and orders of Regional Police Officer (RPO) Malakand Zahid Nawaz and District Police Officer (DPO) Lower Chitral Muhammad Khalid Khan. The campaign’s primary objective is to protect children’s lives and property and ensure compliance with traffic laws in the city.
According to details, traffic wardens conducted surprise operations at various key locations across the district under the leadership of Traffic Warden Police in-charge Sub-Inspector Jang Baz Khan. During the operations, underage motorcyclists riding recklessly on highways were stopped, and their motorcycles were impounded and taken to the police station.
Police specifically summoned the parents and guardians of the children who were caught to the police station. They were informed about the dangerous consequences of children driving at an underage, after which strict legal and written guarantees (surety bonds) were obtained from them that they would never again allow their underage children to ride a motorcycle. Police officials said the measure is intended to make parents realize that giving a car or motorcycle to underage children is not only a violation of the law but also tantamount to putting their lives at risk.
Lower Chitral Traffic Warden Police has strongly appealed to all parents and guardians not to allow their children to ride motorcycles underage, in order to protect their precious lives, future and road safety. Police are determined to continue these operations against underage driving without discrimination and on an ongoing basis, so that roads can be made safe for all citizens, particularly children.
